ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to verify the repeatability of the expression of forage characters in intraspecific hybrids of Paspalum notatum Flügge to aid early selection. Across five harvests, plant height, tiller population density, leaf dry matter, stem dry matter, inflorescence dry matter, total dry matter, and growth habit were quantified for five parents, 189 hybrids, and a commercially available cultivar as a control (n = 195). Analysis of variance, principal components analysis, and structural analysis methods were used to determine the repeatability coefficients. The repeatability coefficients ( ρ ^) for all evaluated characteristics generated by the different methods were between 0.05 (ANOVA II) and 0.95 (PCACov). For most of the characteristics studied, repeatability coefficients and determination coefficients were considered high. The repeatability coefficients estimates obtained for the eight characteristics evaluated with the ANOVA I and II methods were almost always lower than those obtained by PCA and structural analysis methods. Based on the covariance matrix, the principal component method generated higher estimates than those produced by ANOVA or structural analysis. Assuming a minimum 80% reliability to verify the relative superiority of the hybrids across all assessed traits, the five harvests proved adequate for selecting the optimal plant materials to advance to the next phase of the breeding program. However, reliable early selection for leaf dry matter, leaf:stem ratio, and total dry matter required a minimum of two harvests. The genetic parameters (h2 and CVg) showed a favorable scenario for direct selection to increase forage production.

RESUMO: Andropogon lateralis Nees é uma gramínea nativa do sul do Brasil e uma das espécies mais frequentes na flora dos campos nativos da região. Possui ampla distribuição e alto grau de plasticidade fenotípica, tornando-o adaptável as condições edafoclimáticas e a práticas de desfolha. Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a dissimilaridade entre doze ecótipos de A. lateralis N., coletados em diferentes regiões do Rio Grande do Sul, submetidos a duas frequências de desfolha e três alturas de corte. No período de setembro a fevereiro, os ecótipos foram avaliados quanto à produção de matéria seca total, de lâminas foliares e de colmo. Além disso, foram medidos o número de perfilhos totais, vegetativos e reprodutivos e a altura das plantas. Essas características são importantes para a seleção de genótipos superiores em termos de variabilidade genética e produção de forragem. A matéria seca total e a matéria seca foliar são características com importância agronômica e apresentaram a maior correlação (r = 0,77), possibilitando uma seleção indireta para uma dessas características. A seleção natural das plantas resultou em características estruturais, morfológicas e produtivas distintas com uma heterogeneidade que permite a seleção e agrupamento de acordo com as características, ecótipos com características agronômicas superiores podem ser incluídos em programas de melhoramento.

ABSTRACT: Andropogon lateralis Nees is a native grass of southern Brazil and is one of the most frequent specie found in native grasslands. The species is widely distributed and has a high degree of phenotypic plasticity, which makes it highly adaptable to different edaphoclimatic conditions and management. This study aimed to evaluate the behavior of twelve ecotypes of A. lateralis, collected in different regions of the state of Rio Grande do Sul and cut to three different heights and subjected to two different defoliation frequencies. From September to February, the ecotypes were evaluated for total dry matter, leaf and stem yields. In addition, total, vegetative and reproductive tillers and plant height were measured. These characteristics are important for the selection of superior genotypes in terms of genetic variability and forage production. Total dry matter and leaf dry matter are characteristics with agronomic importance and they showed the highest correlation (r = 0.77), enabling an indirect selection for one of these characteristics. The natural selection of plants resulted in distinct structural, morphological and productive characteristics with heterogeneity that allows the selection and grouping according to the characteristics, ecotypes with superior agronomic characteristics can be included in breeding programs.

ABSTRACT The objective of this research was to identify the existence of root exudation of organic acid in Lotus corniculatus germplasms subjected to toxic aluminum (Al) levels and investigate the effect of this mechanism on the Al content in the root tissue and in morphological parameters of plant development. Two experiments were performed in nutrient solution to evaluate the Al accumulation and exudation of organic acids, using cultivars INIA Draco and São Gabriel and genotypes UFRGS and UF-T2. The plants were cultivated in Al-free solution, which was applied on the 45th day in half of the pots of each genotype. Root exudation was highly correlated with the reduced accumulation of Al in the root tissue (r2 = 0.75 at 72 h). Genotype UF-T2, selected for Al tolerance, extruded 80% more oxalic acid in the presence of Al compared with the other germplasms, indicating that this mechanism is involved with Al tolerance in L. corniculatus. This experiment showed strong evidence that L. corniculatus exhibits Type I tolerance, in which anionic channels are rapidly activated by Al exposure. Exudation of oxalic acid is likely a crucial mechanism that allows the maintenance of L. corniculatus growth when exposed to toxic Al conditions, and this characteristic should be used to identify tolerant genotypes in the future.

ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to describe morphology and grouping of Paspalum notatum accessions, based on multicategorical data which discards the redundant variables for quantification of genetic diversity. We also tested the hypothesis that geographical distance was correlated with morphological divergence. In our study, multivariate analyzes successfully demonstrated the geographic and morphological variability of the P. notatum accessions characterized. Many of these evaluated accessions can be included in future genetic improvement programs. Based on two methodologies for discarding variables, it was possible to identify the potentially important morphological characteristics from genetic diversity studies and characterize new accessions aimed at improving forage and seed production. The methodologies used to discard variables are biometric tools that can be used successfully in future plant breeding programs, especially when a large number of traits and accessions are being evaluated. Although significant, geographic distance had a low association with morphological traits. This indicated the need to use other characteristics, such as forage and seed yield, in addition to molecular analysis. Our analyzes showed genetic variability in P. notatum for all the characteristics studied.

Abstract Paspalum notatum is an important forage native to Southern Brazil and one of the most promising fodder species in terms of productivity, quality, resistance and growth speed. The objective of this study was to evaluate the reproductive mode and fertility of hybrid progenies resulting from artificial crosses among artificially duplicated sexual plants, selected intraspecific hybrids of the UFRGS breeding program and apomictic ecotypes of the species. The resulting F1 progenies were represented by 24 plants with high pollen viability (varying from 82.15 to 99.67%) and 1.2:1 segregation for the sexual: apomictic reproduction mode, indicating predominantly sexual hybrids, due to distorted segregation. In the apomictic plants, most chromosomes paired as bivalents in diakinesis. Since the low presence of abnormalities observed in the meiotic chromosome pairing and the high pollen viability of the hybrids, all plants were confirmed as promising parents for future crosses.

RESUMO: O objetivo neste trabalho foi verificar a viabilidade do processamento digital de imagens na mensuração de plântulas de arroz e sua potencial utilização como teste de vigor em sementes. O experimento foi realizado no Laboratório Didático de Análise de Sementes, localizado no Capão do Leão (RS), utilizando sementes de oito cultivares de arroz: Irga 424, Puitá Inta CL, BRS Esmeralda, SCS 116, Guri Inta CL, BRS Pampa, BRSGO Serra Dourada e Olimar. Uma ferramenta de processamento de imagens (FPI) foi utilizada para mensurar o comprimento e a área da parte aérea e de raízes de plântulas de arroz de modo a classificar as sementes em níveis de vigor. O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado com cinco repetições. As variáveis avaliadas foram comprimento de raiz e parte aérea em régua graduada e pela imagem, área de raiz e parte aérea e emergência a campo. Os resultados obtidos com o FPI foram correlacionados com outros testes de qualidade por correlação de Pearson. A determinação do comprimento de parte aérea e área foliar de plântulas obtidos através do FPI é efetivo para avaliar o vigor de sementes de arroz.

ABSTRACT: The aim of this paper was to verify the viability of digital image processing in the measurement of rice seedling and its potential use as seed vigor test. The experiment took place at the Laboratório Didático de Análise de Sementes, located in Capão do Leão (RS), using seeds of eight rice cultivars: Irga 424, Puitá Inta CL, BRS Esmeralda, SCS 116, Guri Inta CL, BRS Pampa, BRSGO Serra Dourada and Olimar. An image processing system (IPS) was used to measure length and area of shoot and root as an index of seed vigor in rice seeds. The experiment design was completely randomized with five replications. The evaluated variables were root and shoot length in graded ruler and by image, root and shoot area, and field emergence. Results obtained with the IPS were correlated with other quality tests though the Pearson tests. Determination of shoot length and leaf area of the seedlings obtained through IPS is effective for assessing the vigor of rice seeds.

O objetivo deste estudo consistiu em analisar a aplicabilidade do teste de envelhecimento acelerado no vigor de sementes de alface (Lactuca sativa) em seis lotes de sementes de alface, através da sua correlação com outros testes para avaliação expedita da qualidade fisiológica das sementes da hortícola. Foram realizados os testes de primeira contagem de germinação, germinação, condutividade elétrica, envelhecimento acelerado, deterioração controlada e emergência em campo. O delineamento utilizado foi inteiramente casualizado, com quatro repetições. A utilização do teste de envelhecimento acelerado a 41°C durante 24 h com solução saturada de NaCl foi o mais indicado para a avaliação do vigor de sementes de alface.

Accelerated aging as a vigor test has been one of the most used, and its application suits many crops. The aim of this research was to analyze the applicability of the accelerated aging test in the vigor of lettuce seeds (Lactuca sativa) by its correlation with other tests for the expeditious evaluation of the physiological quality of the horticultural seeds. Six lots of lettuce seeds were used. The first count of germination, standard germination, electrical conductivity, accelerated aging, controlled deterioration, and seedling's field emergence was performed. The design was completely randomized, with four replications. The use of the accelerated aging test at 41°C per 24 h period using saturated NaCl solution is indicated for the evaluation of lettuce seed vigor.

Este estudo teve por objetivo avaliar os efeitos do condicionamento fisiológico e posterior secagem em temperatura ambiente sobre a germinação e vigor de sementes cebola. Foram utilizados dois lotes de sementes que foram submetidas ao condicionamento em água e solução osmótica de polietileno glicol (PEG 6.000). Foram avaliados cinco níveis de potencial osmótico - 0,0 MPa [água]; -0,2 MPa; -0,4 MPa; -0,6 MPa; e -0,8 MPa - e quatro períodos de condicionamento - zero, 36, 48 e 60 h. Em seguida, as sementes foram submetidas à secagem em temperatura ambiente durante sete dias, sobre papel toalha. A qualidade fisiológica das sementes foi avaliada através dos seguintes testes: umidade, germinação, primeira contagem da germinação, tempo para germinação, emergência, dias para emergência, comprimento de plântulas e comprimento de plantas no solo. Os resultados mostraram que o condicionamento seguido de secagem, até 10 h de condicionamento em níveis de potencial osmótico de 0 a -0,2 MPa favorecem o vigor das sementes. O período de 60 h no nível zero de potencial osmótico (água) promove benefícios para primeira contagem da germinação e comprimento de plântulas. O hidrocondicionamento foi o tratamento mais eficaz para sementes de cebola.

The objective was to evaluate the effects of physiological conditioning and subsequent drying at room temperature on germination and vigour of onion seeds. Two seed lots were used and the seeds of each batch were submitted to the conditioning in water and osmotic solution of polyethylene glycol (PEG 6000), evaluating five levels of osmotic potential - 0,0 MPa [water], -0,2 MPa, -0,4 MPa, -0,6 MPa, and -0,8 MPa - and four conditioning periods - zero, 36, 48 and 60 h. After this procedure, the seeds were submitted to drying at room temperature for seven days, on paper towel. The physiological quality of the seeds was evaluated through the following tests: moisture, germination, first germination count, germination time, emergence, emergence days, seedling length and plant length in soil. The results showed that the conditioning followed by drying, up to 10 h of conditioning at osmotic potential levels from 0 to -0,2 MPa favours seed vigour. The 60 h period at the zero level of osmotic potential (water) promotes benefits for first counting of germination and seedling length. Hydro-conditioning was the most effective treatment for onion seeds.

RESUMO O vigor das sementes é determinado por uma série de testes laboratoriais, muitos destes, trabalhosos e morosos. Em vista disso o presente trabalho teve por objetivo comparar a determinação do comprimento de plântula de trigo através do processamento de imagens com o método tradicional, bem como sua capacidade de determinar o vigor de sementes. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado com cinco repetições, constituindo um experimento em esquema unifatorial. Os dados foram analisados quanto a sua normalidade pelo teste de Shapiro- wilk e análise de variância pelo teste de ANOVA a 5% de probabilidade. As variáveis respostas foram correlacionadas pelo teste de Pearson, e as metodologias de determinação do comprimento de parte aérea e de raiz através de medição com régua graduada, e por processamento de imagem foram comparadas através do teste F a 5% de probabilidade. Para comparação de média entre as cultivares utilizou-se o teste de Tukey a 5% de probabilidade. O comprimento de parte aérea e de raiz de plântulas de trigo determinados através do processamento de imagens em ferramenta matemática Matlab® são eficientes para separar as cultivares em níveis de vigor de forma similar às avaliações rotineiramente utilizadas para essa finalidade.

ABSTRACT Seed vigour is determined by a series of laboratory tests, many of these laborious and time-consuming. In view of this, the present study aimed to compare the determination of seedling length in wheat using image processing, with the traditional method, as well as the ability of the method to determine seed vigour. The experimental design was completely randomised, with five replications comprising a single-factor experimental scheme. The data were analysed for normality by the Shapiro-Wilk test and variance analysis using ANOVA at 5% probability. The response variables were correlated using Pearson's test, and the methodologies for determining the length of the shoots and roots, by measuring with a graduated rule and by image processing, were compared using the F-test at 5% probability. To compare mean values between cultivars, Tukey's test at 5% probability was used. The length of the shoots and roots of wheat seedlings, determined by image processing using the Matlab® mathematical tool, is efficient in separating the cultivars into levels of vigour in a similar way to evaluations used routinely for this purpose.

Resumo:O objetivo deste trabalho foi identificar, na micobiota de Sagittaria montevidensis, espécies de fungos fitopatogênicos com potencial bioherbicida, bem como avaliar sua seletividade para a cultura do arroz irrigado. Foram avaliadas as espécies de fungos Fusarium oxysporum e F. semitectum da micobiota de S. montevidensis e seis níveis de concentração de esporos (0, 1x103, 1x104, 1x105, 1x106 e 1x107 esporos mL-1), aplicados sobre plantas de S. montevidensis em estádio de uma folha sagitada e sobre plantas de arroz no estádio de desenvolvimento R4. Avaliou-se a progênie da cultura. Os isolados de F. oxysporum e F. semitectum apresentaram maior incidência sobre as plantas de S. montevidensis; porém, não foram eficazes no controle da espécie quando aplicados no estádio de plântula com uma folha sagitada. A aplicação de F. oxysporum e F. semitectum na fase de floração das plantas de arroz irrigado causa perdas no rendimento, redução no vigor das sementes produzidas e redução no comprimento radicular e da parte área.

Abstract:The objective of this work was to identify, in the mycobiota of Sagittaria montevidensis, species of pathogenic fungi with potential to act as a bioherbicide, as well as to evaluate their selectivity for irrigated rice crop. The fungi species Fusarium oxysporumand F. semitectum of the mycobiota of S. montevidensis and six spore concentration levels (0, 1x103, 1x104, 1x105, 1x106, and 1x107 spores mL-1), applied on S. montevidensis plants in the stage of one sagittate leaf and on rice plants in the R4 growth stage, were assessed. The progeny of the culture was evaluated. Isolates of F. oxysporum and F. semitectum had greater impact on S. montevidensis plants; however, they were not effective in controlling the species when applied in the seedling stage with one sagittate leaf. The application of F. oxysporum and F. semitectum in the flowering stage of irrigated rice plants causes yield losses, reduction in the vigor of produced seeds, and reduction in root length and plant shoot.

A deficiência de B pode diminuir a fertilidade das flores, prejudicando a produtividade de sementes de trigo. O trabalho objetivou avaliar a produção e a qualidade fisiológica de sementes de trigo produzidas sobre épocas e doses de aplicação de B. O experimento foi desenvolvido no laboratório didático de análise de sementes e em casa de vegetação, no município do Capão do Leão (RS). O delineamento experimental utilizado foi completamente casualizado, com quatro repetições e em esquema fatorial, envolvendo estádio de aplicação (semeadura e perfilhamento), e doses de B (0, 1, 2, 3, 4 e 5kg B ha-1). A fonte de B utilizada foi o tetraborato de sódio (boráx), o qual apresenta 11,5% de B. A adubação boratada, aplicada na semeadura ou perfilhamento, em doses entre 2,5kg e 3kg de B ha-1 ocasionam aumento no número de sementes e espigas produzidas por planta, redução do rendimento de sementes por planta, peso de mil sementes e o peso hectolítrico, sem causar redução na qualidade fisiológica de sementes de trigo. As plantas de trigo apresentam maior absorção de B na aplicação no estádio de perfilhamento, em relação à fase de semeadura.

Boron deficiency can decrease fertility of flowers, harming productivity of wheat seeds. The experiment was conducted in didactic laboratory seed testing and in the greenhouse, both located in the municipality of Capão do Leão (RS). The objective of this study was to evaluate the production and physiological quality of wheat seed produced on time and doses of B application. The experimental design was completely randomized, with four replications in a factorial arrangement involving application stage (seeding and tillering), and B doses (0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5kg ha-1). The B source utilized was sodium tetraborate (borax), which has 11.5% of B. Boron fertilization applied at sowing and tillering at doses ranging from 2.5kg to 3kg B ha-1 causing an increase in the number of seeds produced per plant and spikes, reduction of seed yield per plant, thousand seed weight and weight hectoliter, no reduction in physiological seed quality of wheat. Wheat plants have a higher absorption of B application on the tillering stage in relation to the stage of sowing.

O tratamento de sementes com reguladores de crescimento, principalmente o ácido salicílico, é uma alternativa promissora ao setor de sementes por se tratar de um importante indutor de resistência de doenças e pragas, além de atuar significativamente na qualidade e no rendimento de sementes. Objetivou-se com o presente trabalho avaliar o desempenho de sementes de arroz tratadas com diferentes concentrações de ácido salicílico, bem como avaliar o rendimento da cultura e a qualidade das sementes. Os tratamentos constaram de níveis crescentes de 0, 50, 100, 150 e 200 mg.L-1 de ácido salicílico. Para isso, preparou-se uma solução estoque de ácido salicílico na maior concentração e através de diluições sucessivas em água destilada, foram obtidas as demais concentrações. A qualidade fisiológica das sementes tratadas e produzidas foi avaliada por testes de vigor e de germinação, sendo que após a colheita avaliou-se o rendimento de sementes. Conclui-se que o tratamento de sementes de arroz com ácido salicílico até a concentração de 130 mg.L-1, na dose de 2 mL.kg-1 de semente, não influencia a germinação ou afeta o vigor, entretanto proporciona incrementos substanciais no rendimento da cultura. O tratamento das sementes com ácido salicílico não apresenta influencia na qualidade das sementes produzidas.

Seed treatment with growth regulators, especially salicylic acid, is a promising alternative to the seed industry because it is an important inducer of resistance to diseases and pests, as well as acting significantly on quality and seed yield. The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of rice seed treated with different concentrations of salicylic acid, as well as assess the crop yield and seed quality. The treatments consisted of increasing levels of 0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 mg.L-1 salicylic acid. To this was prepared a stock solution of salicylic acid and the highest concentration by successive dilution in distilled water, the other concentrations were obtained. The physiological quality of seeds produced was treated and evaluated by tests of vigor and germination, and after harvest were evaluated seed yield. It follows that treatment of rice seeds with salicylic acid concentrations up to 130 mg.L-1 at a dose of 2 mL.kg-1 seed does not affect the germination and affects the strength, however provides substantial increases in the yield of seeds. The seed treatment with salicylic acid has no influence on seed quality produced.

O experimento foi conduzido em casa de vegetação do Departamento de Fitotecnia, na Universidade Federal de Pelotas, Pelotas, Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil na safra agrícola 2010. Objetivou-se com o presente trabalho avaliar a influência do recobrimento de sementes de aveia branca com zinco na qualidade fisiológica e no rendimento das sementes produzidas. Os tratamentos consistiram da combinação de dois produtos a base de zinco, em esquema fatorial 2 x 5 (Fator A: produto "A": 780 g L-1 de zinco e o produto "B": 17 e 600 g L-1 de nitrogênio e zinco, respectivamente; Fator B: níveis de 0, 1, 2, 3 e 4 mL kg-1 de semente), totalizando 10 tratamentos, com quatro repetições. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o completamente casualizado, com quatro repetições. Após a colheita avaliou-se o rendimento e a qualidade fisiológica das sementes produzidas pelos testes de primeira contagem da germinação, germinação, envelhecimento acelerado, teste de frio e emergência em campo. Conclui-se que o zinco fornecido via recobrimento de sementes em aveia branca, em ambos os produtos e doses estudadas, determina aumento de rendimento e de germinação de sementes. A dose de 3 mL de produto kg-1 de semente apresenta máximo desempenho.

Micronutrients, such as zinc, are important for the metabolic activities that can benefit germination and seed vigor because many soils are deficient in this micronutrient. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of coating oat seeds with zinc on the physiological quality and yield of the seeds produced. The experimental design was completely randomized, with a 2 x 5 factorial arrangement of the following, with four replications per treatment: factor A - product 1, 780 g L-1 zinc, and product 2, 17 and 600 g L-1 nitrogen and zinc, respectively; and factor B - 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 mL of each product kg-1 seed. The results were subjected to an analysis of variance and a means comparison test (p < 0.5 using Tukey's test). The experimental plots consisted of vases of 30 L situated in the greenhouse of the Plant Science Department, Federal University of Pelotas, Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil. After harvesting, the yield and physiological quality of the seeds was evaluated based on germination, accelerated aging, cold and field emergence tests. At all of the studied doses, both of the zinc products used to coat the seeds resulted in an increase in the yield and seed germination. The dose of 3 mL of product per kg seed generated the best results.

O vigor das sementes interfere significativamente na tolerância à deficiência hídrica e no rendimento de sementes. Assim, o objetivo no presente trabalho foi avaliar a influência da deficiência hídrica sobre o rendimento e a qualidade fisiológica das sementes de soja produzidas na geração F1. O trabalho foi desenvolvido utilizando-se sementes de soja da cultivar M-SOY 8008 RR, semeadas em vasos com capacidade de 15 kg de solo, coletado do horizonte A1 de um Planossolo Háplico Eutrófico solódico, em casa de vegetação. O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 2x2, sendo os fatores sem e com deficiência hídrica do 1° ao 10° dia após a emergência e nível de vigor das sementes (alto e baixo), totalizando quatro tratamentos, com cinco repetições. As variáveis analisadas foram a fitomassa seca da parte aérea e a área foliar aos 10, 20, 30 e 40 dias após a emergência, rendimento e qualidade fisiológica através dos testes de germinação, primeira contagem de germinação, envelhecimento acelerado e massa de mil sementes na geração F1. A utilização de sementes de alto vigor proporciona acréscimos superiores a 15% no rendimento, em relação ao uso das sementes de baixo vigor. A deficiência hídrica do 1° ao 10° dia após a emergência não interfere no rendimento e na qualidade fisiológica de sementes da geração F1, tanto daquelas de alto como de baixo vigor.

Seed vigor interferes significantly in tolerance to water deficit and seed yield. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of water stress on yield and physiological quality of seeds produced in the F1 generation. The study was conducted in a greenhouse using seeds of the cultivar M-SOY 8008RR, sown in pots with capacity of 15kg of soil A1 horizon of a Eutrophic Haplic Planosol Solodicin . The experimental design was completely randomized in a 2x2 factorial, with and without water deficit of 1st to 10th day after emergence and seed vigor level: high and low, totaling four treatments with five replicates. The variables analyzed were dry mass of shoots and leaf area at 10, 20, 30 and 40 days after emergence, yield and physiological quality through germination, first count, accelerated aging and weight of a thousand seeds of seeds in the F1 generation. The use of seed provides high force increases over 15% yield with respect to the use of low seed vigor. Water deficit from the 1st to the 10th day after emergence does not interfere in the yield and seed quality of the F1 generation, either for seeds of high and low vigor.

No presente trabalho, o objetivo foi avaliar a qualidade fisiológica e o rendimento de sementes de soja recobertas com diferentes fontes e concentrações de potássio. Utilizando a cultivar de soja 'CD 201', cujo delineamento experimental adotado foi inteiramente casualizado e os tratamentos constaram de um fatorial 2x5 (fontes de potássio: KCl e K2SO4 e níveis: 0, 5, 50, 500 e 5000mg L-1), totalizando dez tratamentos. As sementes foram recobertas com 2mL de solução de potássio + 2mL de Polímero (Sepiret®) + 2mL de Inoculante (Rizofix®) por quilo, totalizando 6mL kg-1 de semente. As variáveis analisadas foram primeira contagem da germinação, germinação, envelhecimento acelerado, teste de frio e comprimento da parte aérea e raiz; após a colheita, avaliou-se a qualidade fisiológica e o rendimento das sementes produzidas. O recobrimento de sementes de soja, cultivar 'CD 201', com cloreto e sulfato de potássio não influencia na germinação, mas o cloreto de potássio beneficia o desempenho das plântulas. O potássio via recobrimento de sementes com sulfato e cloreto de potássio até 5000mg L-1 de semente não interfere no seu rendimento, porém o sulfato de potássio produz sementes de melhor qualidade.

This study aimed to evaluate the physiological quality and yield of soybean seeds coated with different sources and concentrations of potassium. Using soybean cultivar 'CD 201'. The experimental design was completely randomized and the treatments were a factorial 2x5 (sources of potassium: KCl and K2SO4 and levels: 0, 5, 50, 500 and 5000mg L-1), a total of ten treatments, with four replications. The seeds were covered with 2 ml of solution of potassium 2mL + Polymer (Sepiret®) + 2mL of inoculants (Rizofix®) per kg of seed, totaling 6mL kg-1 seeds. The variables analyzed after treatment of the seeds were first count of germination, germination, accelerated aging, cold test and length of shoot and root. After harvest, we evaluated the physiological seed quality and seed yield. It is concluded that the coating of soybean seeds, cultivar 'CD 201', chloride and potassium sulfate does not influence the germination of treated seed, however potassium positively influences the performance of seedlings. The seed coating by potassium sulphate and potassium chloride to 5000mg L-1 seed do not interfere with seed yield, but the potassium sulphate seed produces higher quality than chloride.
